What I Did on my "Summer" Vacation

I realize I have been posting sporadically (an understatement) and it's been longer than just the summer, but it seems like it's always summer out here, and well, the past is the past and I'm back!

Here's a random list of what we've been up to since March:

• i took a job
• i lost some weight
• we played beach volleyball

• we traveled a bit

• we adopted a new cat

• we had visitors

• my friend had a baby

• i quit a job

• i started writing for a cool website (to be launched)
• i had a cavity filled
• we celebrated our "one-year-in-LA" anniversary

• i interviewed, a lot
• we celebrated SMS' grandmother's 85th birthday

• we celebrated the fourth anniversary of our marriage
• i got a job

So Tuesday begins a new chapter for me: I'll be going back to school, as a staff member! And I'll be working at the same school as SMS! It's very exciting and a little bit scary. I was somewhat traumatized by my last work experience but I keep reminding myself that that was not a "normal" situation.

I don't know who is still reading this or who might read this in the future, but one of the best things about having a blog is being able to publicly thank people who do good things for you. Quitting my last job was a very hard decision ... it came after weeks of agonizing, crying, lists of pros and cons, lack of sleep, lack of appetite and much, much discussion with anyone who would listen. I have said this before but it bears repeating (maybe it can't be said enough) I have amazing friends. Truly, truly amazing friends (many of whom are also family). SMS has been unwavering in his support -- he never once doubted it would work out. He and LT were instrumental in helping me get this new gig and I am eternally grateful. There are a host of other friends and family, you know who you are, who have listen to me cry, helped me write cover letters, assisted me with negotiation strategies, provided references and who have generally been pillars of strength, support and kindness. I'd like think I've provided some of these things to some of you over the years and I know I will try to in the future, but let me just say right now:
