Friday night some of SMS' school friends came over for dinner to help celebrate his birthday -- it was WICKED hot but we grilled anyway. Yum!
Saturday Mae got a clean bill of health -- no bladder stones! Good job, Mae!
Then I got some errands done and went to a Long Lake BBQ with L. Fun time and good food -- the best!
Saturday night SMS and I watched Lars and the Real Girl. Get that movie...now...it's ok...I'll wait...ok? Go get it...did you get it? Good.
Sunday we continued to celebrate SMS' birthday with brunch at Border Grill (so-so) and beach volleyball. This marked my first foray into team sports since 1987, yup 1987. That's over 20 years ago, which makes me so much older than I can comprehend. I wasn't very good, but everyone was very nice and I had a blast. I know I keep saying that and using exclamation points and all that annoying stuff, but it was a killer weekend!
Sunday night was another first -- I did Karaoke AND DIDN'T BOMB (apologies to DF, who I bombed with the last time I attempted to get up in front of people and sing!)! It was fun and funny and we had a blast at our friends' engagement/almost wedding party. A and A are both wonderful Jewish Educators who have been so helpful in our relocation -- their friends threw them a lovely Hawaiian themed Karaoke celebration and we partied in Encino like it was 1999 or 99 degrees (which it basically has been all weekend!).
